Second Blog for Media NEA

My initial response to the brief is positive as I think that it will be easy to access examples of promotional audio-visuals in order to fully understand what it is I have to create. I like the idea of creating the print texts as I think that it will enable me to create more of a house-style or running theme throughout the different media texts. Potential products that I have thought about creating included a game show promotional audio visual, however, the issue that I found with this idea was that I wouldn't be able to include a sequence in the audio-visual that included either; a key turning point, a point of significant conflict or a resolution. I still like this idea and want to look into ways that a narrative could be incorporated into a game show as there are examples of where this exists including on itv such as 'Love Island.' Other ideas that I have had include an audio-visual for an upcoming crime show as it is a very popular genre for the broadcasters 'itv.'
For the print text I think I want to use the double page spread by displaying an interview with one of the actors featuring in the show. I feel comfortable creating a front cover for the magazine as I have analysed magazines throughout both GCSE and A-Level Media Studies.

Third Blog for Media NEA action plan

Action Plan Research: Research that I have already began collecting includes looking at the TV Times in magazines and looking at the TV Guide for what programmes are on each of the broadcasters; itv and Channel 5. I found that some programmes were on at the same time every weekday on the ITV channel such as 'The Chase,' this suggests that there is a mid-evening demand for game shows. I didn't get onto researching the Channel 5 TV Guide so that will be my next step. Another issue that I encountered when initially doing this research was that I was unsure what ITV channel I was supposed to be creating a audio-visual for. What I did to try and create a resolution was to just look at the ITV TV Guide to start with. Week One: during this week I will continue on from my initial lesson/introduction to the Media NEA and will continue writing my blog and creating an action plan for the following weeks. I will also spend time completing the TV listing notes and writing up at lea...

Aims and Intentions

- H ow and why will you use media language in your media production? -How and why will you construct representations of individuals, groups, and issues/events? -How will you target your intended audience/users? -How will your production conform to its industry context? In this audio-visual, media language will be used to make it distinct to the genre it is conveying. Hand-held camera shots will be used to create a sense of realism, panning shots will be used to display the setting/surroundings, close ups will be used to direct audiences’ attention to certain aspects of the narrative. The mise-en-scene will increase the authenticity of the genre, by using natural lighting, modern clothing and props to create a sense of tension and realism. Re-occurring props will also be used to carry the narrative. Sound effects will be natural and will mimic the real life noises that would be heard, however tense music will be used. Representations will be constructed to fit the conventions ...
