Third Blog for Media NEA action plan

Action Plan
Research:
Research that I have already began collecting includes looking at the TV Times in magazines and looking at the TV Guide for what programmes are on each of the broadcasters; itv and Channel 5. I found that some programmes were on at the same time every weekday on the ITV channel such as 'The Chase,' this suggests that there is a mid-evening demand for game shows. I didn't get onto researching the Channel 5 TV Guide so that will be my next step. Another issue that I encountered when initially doing this research was that I was unsure what ITV channel I was supposed to be creating a audio-visual for. What I did to try and create a resolution was to just look at the ITV TV Guide to start with.

Week One:
during this week I will continue on from my initial lesson/introduction to the Media NEA and will continue writing my blog and creating an action plan for the following weeks. I will also spend time completing the TV listing notes and writing up at least 10 programmes for each broadcasting service along with details about the programmes such as; title, genre, channel and time, target audience and general synopses. I need to look at a contrast of factual and fictional programmes within this.
As part of my out of class work I want to try to watch and analyse one of the programmes from my list and then do a textual analysis of this. Depending on timings I will try to watch another programme and do the same.

Week Two:
Investigate institutions. During (mainly) in class time I will look at the different broadcasters/institutions of ITV and Channel 5. I will make a collage with findings of programmes and I will also include in my blog the ethos of each broadcaster.
As part of out of class work I want to complete watching and textually analysing programmes. This week will be a continuation of any work I didn't manage to complete from week one due to me setting up a blog.

Week Three:
During this week I want to investigate the target audience of 'millennials'  (aged 18-35). I will research their demographics and create an audience profile using this. I want to draft out a questionnaire that looks at interests as well as other things such as hobbies of this target audience. I also want to establish what channel this target audience would be most likely to watch and I would make a prediction that the younger end of the target audience would be more likely to watch ITV and the older end would be more likely to watch Channel 5.
As part of my out of class work I will continue making this questionnaire and try ask as many people that fit the target audience in order to ensure that my questionnaire is as representative as possible.

Week Four:
During this week I want to look through all of the research I have already conducted and then look to add theorists into it anywhere. I will look at the TV listings, programmes I have textually analysed, institutions and research into target audience and look at where any theorists come into play. During this week (in class and out) I will need to have a good idea of my concept/idea for the audio-visual and set text as I will need to look at formal sources such as Media Magazine that are specifically relevant to my genre and complete research on this.

Week Five:
during this week I want to complete a mind map along with a mood board for the genre I want to do. this will enable me to begin planning my aims and intentions and writing a rough draft. I will hopefully be able to write a treatment sheet for audio visual work.

Aims and Intentions

- H ow and why will you use media language in your media production? -How and why will you construct representations of individuals, groups, and issues/events? -How will you target your intended audience/users? -How will your production conform to its industry context? In this audio-visual, media language will be used to make it distinct to the genre it is conveying. Hand-held camera shots will be used to create a sense of realism, panning shots will be used to display the setting/surroundings, close ups will be used to direct audiences’ attention to certain aspects of the narrative. The mise-en-scene will increase the authenticity of the genre, by using natural lighting, modern clothing and props to create a sense of tension and realism. Re-occurring props will also be used to carry the narrative. Sound effects will be natural and will mimic the real life noises that would be heard, however tense music will be used. Representations will be constructed to fit the conventions ...
